What is renewable energy? As its name implies, this is the type of
energy that doesn't run out simply because the source is also limitless.
Take, for example, solar energy. You can generate power through the use
of sunlight and solar panels. Since the sun is around all the time
(unless it turns into a black hole), you can have constant energy source.
It's the same thing with geothermal energy. Heat is always produced
underneath the earth's surface. A lot of countries are now pushing for the use of alternative forms of energy sources. This is because they know that their people and the government can enjoy a lot of benefits: 1. You can cut on costs. One of the greatest advantages of using renewable energy is its cost effectiveness. Though you may have to spend thousands of dollars just by putting up wind turbines or solar panels on homes and villages, they can still help save money in the long run. If you're running a solar panel, you won't have to pay for electrical costs. If not, you can reduce the amount you spend for electricity to as much as 50 percent. There's also little maintenance required, and these panels have warranty that can last for more than 20 years. 2. You can enjoy tax incentives. In an effort to encourage consumers to make use of alternative sources of energy for their needs, they are willing to provide tax breaks or credits. For instance, if you use solar energy equipment in your home, including electric and heating systems, you can get 30 percent or up to $1,500 worth of tax credits. You would also enjoy the same tax break if you are using residential fuel cells, heat pumps, and microturbines. 3. Our economy doesn't have to be completely dependent on oil importation. Oil imports are getting expensive, as they are becoming scarcer. It won't be long before we the consumers will have to start allocating a huge part of our annual budget for fuel consumption alone. However, if more and more people would utilize renewable energy, the demand for petroleum-based products would also go down. This would mean a reduction in costs faced by everyone. Every one of us would then have more money to pay off debts, to add to savings, to invest, and to enjoy. 4. You can help save the environment. A good reason why you should not take the Day of Doom, which people predict would happen in the next few years, is because all signs are pointing toward it. The polar caps are melting, the sea level is rising, more animals are dying, and the entire world is polluted. The leading causes, unfortunately, are fossil fuels, such as natural gas, oil, and coal. They can create smog that can develop the atmosphere and can cause health problems among individuals. They can also destroy sea, land, and air. As expected, they could ruin the ecosystem by creating an imbalance that will be too hard to correct. Solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric energy don't emit any kind of toxic chemical. They are clean and definitely safe to use. |
