People nowadays want to make extra money. They hear stories about how some people are making six figure incomes on the Internet, and they want a part of it. Since you're reading this article, the likelihood is that you do too. The Internet is swamped with advertisements and sales pages that promise to make you rich so that you can live the millionaire's lifestyle. The condo in the Caribbean. The luxury car and the hot shiny red sportscar. Always with a beautiful woman at your side. How tempting does that villa and yacht look?? The likelihood is that it's not you or me that are going to make money from these programs it's the owner and maybe a few of his affiliates. As with everything, you have to start at the beginning and learn the basics first. You can't take short cuts -- they won't work. The most honest person in the world may recommend a program to you after they have made several thousand dollars using it. This doesn't mean that you'll make a single cent from it. They have one thing that you probably don't have ...experience. Think back to when you were a child and you had your first bicycle. Do you remember what happened when you got your first bike? Did your parents buy you a Lance Armstrong replica race bike or a small bike with training wheels? Don't lie. It had training wheels. Why was that? Why did you have to learn how to ride a bicycle that had training wheels? The big kids didn't ride bikes that had training wheels! Why did you have to? Obviously your parents knew (possibly through personal experience!) that you needed to learn how to ride a safe bike first before you progressed to better and faster bikes. Can you imagine what would have happened if you had ridden that race bike right away without having first learnt to ride using the training wheel bike? You probably would have become steet jam after falling repeatedly. If you had managed to survive that you probably would have sworn off riding bicycles ever again. Internet marketing is exactly the same. Make too many mistakes early on and you'll soon feel as though you can never succeed. There are some simple steps you should take first in order to be able to do well in the future. Think of it as riding the training wheel bike. The first thing that you need to do is to learn everything that you can about keywords and niches. You need to discover the type of sites are the most profitable, since the whole idea of starting an online business is to make money. As soon as you've completed your research, then you need to come up with a plan. Try researching your markets. Should you spend most of your initial time building a mailing list or should you concentrate on monetizing blogs? It's a hard decision to make, since there are arguments on both sides to that question. The research you did, and your planning, should help you make the best decision for your business. As we noted earlier, there are tons of different programs, courses and schemes for sale on the Internet that claim to be "The Way" to make money online. You could easily spend thousands of dollars buying every new scheme and course and still be no closer to achieving your goal. It is important that you resist the temptation to buy every tool that you encounter online. I've had loads of people ask me how they should use the tools that they bought. If you don't know exactly what you will use a tool for then don't buy it! There are hundreds of free tools available online -- make use of these to start with. Save your money, time and resources for accomplishing your goals. Oftentimes, the free stuff is just as good as the expensive stuff. |
