Low income housing apartments are subsidized apartments where HUD pays a portion of the rent to the apartments and the renters will pay the other portion. This program allows people that cannot afford housing to live in affordable apartments. The types of people that apply to low income housing apartments are low income families, students, seniors, etc.

To be sure that you are allowed to live in low income housing apartments, you will need to contact HUD and find out exactly whether or not you can qualify. HUD also has a criteria sheet on their website where you can go and check it out yourself. The main criteria to live in low income housing apartments, of course, will be your income. Every county has a different income limit, so the county that you are going to live in that will determine whether or not you can live in low income housing apartments.

Once you have determined if you can live in low income housing apartments, fill out their application and submit it. When you are approved, you will be able to apply for low income housing apartments. To search for low income housing apartments, just go online to do the search. This is the easiest approach since you can find all the low income housing apartments in the area and give each a call and find out what is available.

HUDs website has a search tool where you can use to find low income housing apartments. All apartments participating in the program should be listed.
